Barbara
has a varied professional background. She first entered
the workplace as a secretary, then returned to school to
get her nursing degree. As a nurse, she has worked in
pediatrics, pediatric oncology, home health, education,
and management, as part of a team developing pediatric
protocols for use by EMTs and Emergency Departments, and
now writes video scripts used in nursing education. She
left California and moved to Point Roberts three years
ago.
In
addition to the video scripts, she writes both fiction
and creative non-fiction. She loves to sing and is a
member of both the Vivaldi Chamber Choir in Vancouver
and Delta Sings in Delta. She is active in a number of
local groups, including the Wackie Walkers, Friends of
the Library, the Lighthouse Society, and is a
commissioner for the Point Roberts Hospital District.
Barbara
has two grown daughters, Tracy and Jennifer, and five
wonderful grandchildren, Megan, Tony, Nico, and Allison,
who live in Henderson, NV, and AmandaLyn, who lives in
San Luis Obispo, CA and has spent the last three summers
here on the Point.
